| Gerald Rougé recieved
his early art training at the Cleveland
Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio.
He began his career as an illustrator
in a Cleveland art studio. During
the next 30 years, while continuing
to work as an illustrator/ designer
he managed an ad agency art studio
and later opened his own ad agency.
In 1995 he returned to a long deferred
plan to leave the field of commercial
art and to establish credentials
as a fine artist. |

Living in a small village East of
Cleveland, Rougé found that the changing
seasons of Northeast Ohio provided
a wealth of subject matter for landscape
paintings. Working primarily in oils
on canvas and panels he has captured
the essense of the woods and streams
of Ohio. Numerous walking tours in
a dozen countries overseas have provided
opportunities to paint more expansive
and unusual paintings. Although landscapes
comprise much of his subject matter,
still life and experimental paintings
have expanded his creative boundries.
Gerald has given one man shows at the Sandusky Cultural Center,
the Meyer Center, the North Chagrin Nature Center and the
West Woods Nature Center. His work can be viewed at Imagery Gallery
in Chagrin Falls and at the Goodwin Avenue Gallery in Burton, Ohio. |
